Hello, I'm Julie—known as Jules—owner, baker, and cake designer of Julie’s Bouqcakes (formerly known as Dodelicious Cake Design), based in Dundee, Scotland. As a floral cake artist, my specialty lies in creating stunning wedding and celebration hand-piped floral cupcake bouquets and domes. My mission is to bring joy through visually appealing and delicious treats, aiming to make every occasion a memorable and delightful experience for my customers.

With a career spanning over 25 years in the hospitality industry, I have a rich background that includes some of my favourite roles: a chef on a chartered yacht in the South of France, a ski chalet chef in the Three Valleys, and a private chef for Lord and Lady Lonsdale of Askham, Penrith. Most recently, I dedicated 11 years to teaching Home Economics before taking early retirement to fully embrace my passion for cake design.

My journey into cake artistry began as a hobby, creating cakes for friends and family. In 2019, I delved into the art of sugar flowers, a skill that became a source of solace during the lockdown. After undergoing hip surgery in November 2019, which led to an early retirement I focused on honing my skills in sugar flower making and piped buttercream flowers during my recovery at home.

When I'm not baking, I enjoy spending time in the garden, exploring new foodie spots with friends, and indulging in my favourite pink gin and tonic. I love watching Netflix, James Martin, The Great British Bake-off and any good crime drama. I am an Active Living member at Institute of Sport and Exercise at Dundee University where I have met great friends and enjoy the classes and swimming.

Julie’s Bouqcakes is growing every day, and I am thrilled to share my cake creations with you. Each order you place helps keep my dream alive, transforming what was once a hobby into my dream job. My passion for flavour, combined with artistic flair, is reflected in every bake and is echoed in the wonderful reviews from my customers.

Coming soon is Dode’s Cupcake Decorating Parties. The name Dode is a tribute to my beloved Dad, who passed away in December 2020. He affectionately called me "Dode," and naming my parties after this nickname helps keep his memory alive. These parties are perfect for bridal showers, team-building events or simply a gathering of friends who want to have fun, have a bit of fizz and taste delicious cakes and learn to create edible blooms.
